Booking a Telephone Consultation with a GP

Appointments with the GP are now either telephone or face-to-face consultation. Preference is the patient’s choice. To arrange a GP consultation, you can either telephone our fully trained reception staff to pre-book a telephone consultation in advance or you can telephone at 8:30 am on the day you wish a consultation with the GP.

To assist our GPs, our reception staff will ask you a little more information when booking an appointment. Reception staff will now ask you “To help you make the correct appointment, I need to know a little more about why you are calling today”. Reception staff are asking this question on behalf of the GP, therefore ‘personal’ is no longer accepted; a more detailed explanation of your symptoms/issue is required.

All information provided to the reception staff will be treated with the strictest confidence.

PLEASE NOTE; WHEN THE GP CALLS YOU FROM THE SURGERY, THIS MAY COME UP ON YOUR PHONE AS A WITHHELD NUMBER OR 0800 NUMBER. IF YOU DO NOT ANSWER, AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, THE GP WILL NOT CALL YOU BACK THAT DAY AND YOU WILL REQUIRE TO CALL AGAIN THE FOLLOWING MORNING AT 8:30 am.

Booking an Appointment with the Practice Nurse/HCSW

To arrange an appointment with our Practice Nurse or Health Care Support Worker, please telephone 0141 764 1666. Our fully trained reception staff will arrange this for you but will ask the reason for your appointment. This is to make sure you have been allocated the appropriate length of time for your appointment with the Practice Nurse/Health Care Support Worker.

Text Messaging Service

MJOG – This is a new text messaging service – to remind patients of their booked appointments. Please ensure reception staff have an up-to-date mobile telephone number. Please note you can also update your details through the Patient Access Online Service – please ask reception for further details.

This service is currently suspended.

Cancelled Appointments

It is important that you inform the reception staff if you are unable to attend your appointment, this will allow that appointment to be offered to another patient. If you fail to notify the Practice that you are unable to attend, this will be registered in your medical records as DNA (did not attend). Persistent defaulters maybe removed from the list.

If you are Late for your appointment, the reception staff will advise the GP, this does not guarantee you will see the doctor that day. You may either be asked to wait until the end of the doctors session or you may have to reschedule your appointment. Please contact the practice as soon as reasonably possible to inform us if you are running late.

REQUIRING AN INTERPRETING TO CONTACT THE SURGERY

Patients can now access the Interpreting Services directly themselves. Leaflets are now available in your preferred language to allow you to arrange an interpreter yourself, or simply use the interpreting services to contact the surgery direct. Please click on the link:-

Request for GP Letters/Completion of Forms

If you wish the Doctor to either write a letter for you or complete a form, there may be a fee for this service.

*** PLEASE NOTE; NOT ALL REQUESTS WILL BE ACTIONED ***

Please enquire with reception staff who can advise accordingly.
